“I felt better when living in a house where your neighbors or your housemates are all expat so you can have more chances learn more about other cultures. It’s kind of more interesting to me”
What’s your name and where are you from?
My name is Lan Phuong and I’m from Quang Binh Province, in the center of Vietnam.
Why did you come to HCMC?
I came here because of my job and I think I will find more opportunities for my career path here.
How long have you stayed here? And have you ever think about come back to your hometown to work?
I’ve been living here for about 1 year and 7 months. Uhm…Coming back to my hometown is not my decision but I always wish going back to Danang city because I really love that city. Before moving here, I’ve been lived there for about 8 years for working and study. After that, I decided to move to Saigon and also changed my career.
Do you think is it difficult to find a place to live in HCMC?
No, I don’t think so. I think it’s quite easy but it’s also depend on what kind of place that you are looking for such as you want to find a busy place in the center or a peaceful place in a countryside or others place with little bit quiet.
Where do you live right now? What do you think about your neighborhood?
I’m living in Bui Dinh Tuy Street and my neighbors, my housemates are very nice and friendly. They are all expats
What kind of accommodation that you live in right now? How do you know about GlobeTrottr?
That’s a sharing house, me and my friends are living with other expats. How do I know about GlobeTrottr?? Let’s say…I know GlobeTrottr via my friend. One day, one of the people who was living in GlobeTrottr posted a house advertisement on Facebook and talked about her moving. Then my friend saw it and sent the link to me, I felt good with the accommodation and decided to move there after the visiting.
Can you tell me why did you choose GlobeTrottr instead of living in places for rent without management agency?
Actually, I also feel fine when living in places for rent without management agency because I lived there for a while before moving to GlobeTrottr. On the other hand, I felt better when living in a house where your neighbors or my housemates are all expats so I can have more chances to practice my English and also learn more about other cultures. It’s kind of more interesting to me.
Can you tell me what do you think about youth mobility?
For me, young people should not only stay in Vietnam in general or stay in their country in particular. They should move out of their country and challenge themselves on other countries because that will be good for them, it’s can give them chances to learn more and gain more experience, know more about other lifestyles or working styles. It could be make young people stronger.
What is your next destination?
Yes. Until now, I still not have any plan for the next destination after Saigon because I’ve just changed my job for 2 weeks and also feel good when living here. Therefore, there are still a lot of things for me to do here. If I have a chance to move somewhere specially move to another country for working, I’ll consider about that for sure.
