Thanks to you for taking time to answer our questions and explaining your experiences !
What’s your name and where are you from ?
My name is Arnaud and I come from France.
Why did you come to Vietnam ?
Basically I came to Vietnam just for 6 months and basically I came because it was a cheap country. I wanted to work on a project for free so I wanted to live in a cheap place to focus only on this IT project. I came to Southeast Asia before, in Thaïland, Laos, Malaysia and I really like these places. So when I decided to go back to Southeast Asia, I chose Vietnam because I didn’t know anything about it.
What do you like the most in Vietnam ? Why ?
There is the people but also the food. I think it’s important to live in the country where you enjoy eating. I can also add coffee on this list.
How long have you stayed here and when will you decide to come back to your country ?
I’ve been in Vietnam for more than a year and a half now and I’m planning to stay there because I get married with a Vietnamese girl now. I will come back just to visit my family. Actually, even when I left France, my plan was to do my 6 months in Vietnam and keep travelling after.
Do you think it is difficult to find a place to live in HCMC ?
Hmmm no, it’s not difficult to find a place but maybe it’s difficult to find a “nice place” that you appreciated because it can be more expensive than some european countries. When you arrive here you think everything is cheap but living in HMCM is not that cheap. So if you want a minimum of comfort and a place with good furnitures, it will easily become really expensive.
What do you think about young mobility now? Is it easier ?
Yes I think it’s easier compared to the generation of our parents because of the price, flights, and also because of internet. We more or less speak english so we easily take the decision to go abroad and have no fear of the language. With internet, you can know everything before arriving.
Can you tell us a little story who happened during your trip ?
Too many things happened, I haven’t got special one.
Can you describe Vietnam in one word ?
